A positive end to the National Superstock 1,000 series for Oldham based Ashley Beech with a points finish in the final round of the season at Brands Hatch.
Beech was hoping to complete the season on a high after being plagued with bad luck throughout the year, a crash during testing, causing a bent frame, twisted forks and persistent brake problems mid season had frustrated the whole team
But with faults rectified the team were concentrating on the suspension settings on his BMW S1000RR race bike and good progress was made during recent testing so a good result at the last round would set the team up for the 2018 season.
Lap times during the first practice session were encouraging and after suspension adjustments he improved his time by almost two seconds to finish 11th quickest in the first practice.
Further changes to the front suspension was made to cope with the bumpy sections of the track but despite improving his lap times he slipped to 14th place in qualifying and would start the race from the row 5 on the grid.
With suspension improvements made and dry sunny conditions on race day, Beech lined up on the grid with 14 gruelling laps ahead of him.
As the race began Beech had a fine start and moved up a few places on the first lap before swerving to avoid colliding with two riders who had crashed ahead of him.
The safety car was send out for two laps before the race continued and it was frantic action from the start battling with a group mid pack.
He moved up to 14th by half race distance but was pipped on the last lap to cross the line in 15th position.
"We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped, supported and cheered on the team this year. It’s been a tough and challenging one in the second half JDR this season for Ash even
though we’ve had front row starts and a bunch of top 10 finishes. But we aren’t finished yet we’ve got the job to do in 2018!
The season may be over but it doesn’t end for us! Lots of hard work to do before testing rolling around early next year and before we know it we will be at Donington to do it all again at Easter! #88 #48"
"We have our 2018 lineup! We are proud to announce that we have Ash Continuing in the Superstock 1000 Championship and we are welcoming Ewan Potter into the team in the Superstock 600 Championship!"
